Arriving & getting aroundPlan the whole journey.

London has six main international airports, with different city connections. Heathrow has Elizabeth line, Piccadilly line and Heathrow Express options; choose for the hotel end of the journey, not the fastest advertised train. Confirm your terminal and check service on the day. A late flight may make a prearranged car simpler than multiple changes with luggage.

Choosing where to stayChoose for the trip you are making.

Map the office, dinner and hotel together. Staying near the work you will actually do can remove repeated cross-city journeys. Check the exact building entrance and reception arrangements, especially for an apartment. A prestigious postcode does not tell you who can follow someone through a shared front door or whether anyone handles a late check-in.

Meetings & transactionsDecide the boundaries before you meet.

For an introduction to an investor or adviser, verify their company and appointment independently, then use a staffed public venue or established office. Do not accept a hotel-suite meeting simply because the invitation names a well-known firm. Keep financial approvals for a separate, rested session; a good dinner is not a reason to sign on your phone.

Family & longer staysMake the arrangements work for everyone.

Give companions a way back that works without you: address, booked car details and a payment method. If your phone is lost, they should not lose the hotel booking and everyone’s tickets with it. Keep a separate copy of essential travel details with a trusted person.
