WHALE SAFETY FIELD GUIDE

Move around meet people and enjoy the evening

Keep control of how you arrive and leave. A companion who is entertaining, well connected or introduced by a friend is not automatically a safe transport or financial counterparty.

Transport

Match the driver, number plate and vehicle to your own booking record. If someone substitutes a driver or asks you to move to a car park, confirm through the original dispatcher first and wait in a staffed area. A name board, familiar hotel or branded vehicle is not verification. Keep the dispatcher's number available when your phone has no internet.

Wear a seat belt, use suitable child restraints and avoid riding with an impaired driver. Keep bags and devices within your control. Do not conduct sensitive signing or discuss holdings in a vehicle simply because the driver seems discreet.

If you suspect you are being followed, do not lead the person to your home or a relative's address. Seek a safe staffed location and police assistance when safe; let professionals assess the concern. Do not confront, pursue, perform risky driving manoeuvres or attempt a counter surveillance exercise.

Meetings

For a new contact, use an independently verified venue with staff and a clear exit. Tell your contact where you are going and arrange your own return. Decline a last minute move to a residence, remote villa, yacht, hotel room or unfamiliar vehicle when you cannot establish a safe reason and plan.

Keep identification, phone and ordinary payment access with you. Do not hand over an unlocked phone for a demonstration or address entry. Put devices away near open vehicle windows, roadsides and crowded exits. Bring a colleague or vetted professional where appropriate. A previous successful meeting does not validate the next arrangement.

Dining nightlife and dating

  • Decide your departure arrangements before drinking. Keep a trusted companion aware of changes, without broadcasting them to a group.
  • Keep sight of drinks and do not accept substances of uncertain origin. Sudden unusual illness, confusion or memory loss requires prompt medical help.
  • Avoid discussing wealth, demonstrating portfolios or approving transactions while drinking, exhausted or under social pressure.
  • Verify a new romantic contact over time without transferring money, lending accounts or accepting financial “help” that requires access.
  • If threatened over a bill, do not escalate a confrontation over money. Seek venue management and police assistance when safe.

Useful refusal: “I do not approve transfers or discuss holdings at social meetings. Please send the details through our usual channel.”

Personal choice: people with different gender identities, relationships, disabilities or medical needs may face additional destination specific constraints. Check those needs before booking; do not assume the same arrangements work for every member of the group.
